Youth Advisory Council

“Youth and Community Foundations are a dynamite combination! Perhaps here is the real significance of working with youth. Young people grow up to become people who work with youth. The ripples spread to the next generation, and to the next, and the next.” Dr. Russell G. Mawby, Chairman, W.K. Kellogg Foundation

What's YAC?
YAC is the Youth Advisory Council of the Community Foundation of Monroe County. Our main goal is to improve the quality of live for teens across the country and have fun in the process! We also teach young adults about philanthropy, good decision-making skills, and how to award grants that benefit youth.

Invitation
YAC invites all teens ages 14- 18 who currently attend a school in Monroe County. If you are interested in helping your fellow teens, then YAC is the group for you!

New Members are Welcome!
YAC is actively recruiting new members for the 2008 school year.  If you are a student of a Monroe County High School, you're welcome to come and observe a meeting.  You can earn community service hours, help us decide how to give away our money and be part of an active, interesting and fun group of young people.  You'll also have the opportunity to meet other YACers from around the State of Michigan at conferences and camps.

Grantmaking
YAC will accept applications for grants from organizations that improve the quality of life for the youth in Monroe County. The organization must be non-profit, 501 (c)(3). Call the Community Foundation office for our grant guidelines and application forms.
